Donna Karan has always been one of my favorite designers. Because I am the quintessential minimalist, I love her no fuss clothes that are always elegant and oh so chic. Karan opts for jackets and draped jersey tops; sculpted exaggerated shoulders; wrapped and belted waists. And of course her dresses were long, draped, and goddess like. And what Chocolate Fashionista doesn’t want to feel like a goddess?
In the wake of the recession, another company has shut it’s doors. Jennifer Lopez‘s Sweetface clothing line will cease production after six years. The high-end contemporary line debuted in 2003 and experienced moderate success. Well a door closes a window opens, Lopez’s company insists this is a temporary setback and is looking to relaunch the line at a later date with a new mission. The line will continue to sell internationally.
Sandra “Pepa” Denton, one-half of the hip-hop duo Salt & Pepa and Rozonda “Chilli” Thomas, one-third of the record breaking group T.L.C., have been given deals for their own half-hour shows on the VH1 network. Centered around the ladies’ quest for love, the reality-based shows will air some time in 2010. Thomas is the designer of handbag collection called Bags by Chilli.

Please take a moment of silence for one of the greatest entertainers of all time, Michael Jackson. He passed away today at the UCLA Medical Center in Los Angeles. Jackson was preparing for a world tour and had hoped to start performing again late this summer. He will be sorely missed.
