Style Profile: Mary J. Blige
The reigning Queen of Hip-Hop Soul keeps her fashion fresh! Mary J. Blige goes for dresses with length and color when she’s working the red carpet, while you can find her in jeans and boots on the casual tip. Over the years she’s changed her style and gotten better with perfecting her look. She’s also a bag lady–carrying the latest handbags with flair and of course we couldn’t forget her signature shades when she steps out in front of the paparazzi. MJB knows how to keep it live. She’s on hot chocolate fashionista!
Say it ain’t so! Eva Marcille and her fiance Lance Gross have allegedly called off their engagement. Essence.com reports the two lovebirds made an amicable decision to split, and just months before their summer wedding. Gross proposed to Marcille in at a Big Bear resort in the California on Christmas of Eve in 2008. They were such a beautiful couple, I hope love finds them again. Rachel Roy and Estelle celebrated the launch of their jewelry in NYC. The limited edition costume jewelry line will includes necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings. The collection is on sale this month and includes limited edition collection statement pieces and ranges in price from $34 to $195. The collection is available at select Macy’s and online at both the Macy’s and RachelRoy.com.
Jessica White and Jimena Carlsen hosted the DOWNWITHFASHION event at King Road Home in NYC.
Singer Monica hosted her release party for her upcoming album Still Standing at Arena in NYC. The slim singer looked prim and lady like in a black jacket, fitted skirt and matching booties with bling. Monica’s definitely got the pipes so I know the album will be a winner.
Fall Trends: Hand in Glove
Gloves make an exceptional comeback for fall 2010. Fashion week saw gloves in the shows of some of the hottest designers including Yves Saint Laurent, Derek Lam, Carolina Herrera, Donna Karan and Prada. Rich leathers, cozy knits and jeweled gloves should make for a warm and chic seasonal accessory.
Designer Maria Pinto who designed a number of the First Lady Michelle Obama’s outfits well before she got to the White House has closed the doors of her Chicago boutique.
Citing tough economic times as the cause, Maria Pinto has filed for bankruptcy in addition to closing her stores doors. Pinto first garnered attention when she outfitted the first lady throughout the presidential campaign. Though Mrs. Obama continues to be one of her loyal clients, her patronage wasn’t enough to keep the designer’s doors open. We hope Ms. Pinto will bounce back, and maybe start her own ready-to-wear collection. Time will only tell. Good luck Maria.

Can’t wait for this flick to hit the theaters April 2nd. Tyler Perry’s Why Did I Get Married Too is sure to be another hit. The red carpet premiere took place at the School of Visual Arts Theater today in NYC.
Vivre Riche is a new fashion line which launched this spring just in time for fall 2010. The collection was shown in Miami at the W Hotel’s Wet Bar this week. Vivre Riche is the brainchild of DJ Frank Delour.
