Gucci’s New Fragrance Not So Innocent.

Highly sensual and deeply sinful, Gucci’s latest fragrance Guilty, is seduction in a bottle. Targeted toward the stiletto-clad social media addicts, Guilty is a blend of oriental florals with hints of amber and lilac. The scent is light, and appropriate for evening rather than day (and that is my personal opinion).

The bottles all-gold design with the brand’s signature interlocking Gs is luxe in itself, exposing the amber-colored concoction to eyes with as much sensuality as the scent does for the senses.

Gucci Guilty is set to hit stores in September and will come in three sizes priced from $55 for 30ml to $75 for 50 ml. The fragrance will also include body lotion, shower gel, and body powder shimmer.
If you like sensual scents that aren’t overpowering, Gucci Guilty is just what you need for your fragrance collection.

Jump start  fall by doing something different.

1. Splurge on one big ticket item that will carry you over into the seasons to come. A bag, a killer heel, a cashmere sweater, or a eye-catching bauble that will turn heads in any room.

2. Get in shape. Been trying to tone those legs, flatten that tummy or shape that booty? Do it.

3. Perfect your skills. Take a refresher course in something that can be applied to your career. Need to be more confident in front a group in meetings? Join Toastmasters or take a speech class at your local community college.

4. Take a weekend trip and visit a city or town you’ve never been to.  I’m dying to get to Myrtle Beach and this year I plan to go and see what I can see. Traveling helps you put things in perspective and appreciate the little things.

5. Develop a signature style. Choose a color and make it yours, wear a flower or brooch on every outfit, or keep your feet in peep-toe pumps.  But find something and make it your own. Make yourself memorable.

Every time the season changes, make do something that will change your life and affect it in a positive way. Change is good and we must embrace it if we are to better ourselves.

I’ve been natural since 2002 but looking at all of the recent hair news about more black women going back to their roots, I can say I was ahead of my time! For me the decision to go natural stemmed from me not being able to stomach the scent of relaxers and the burn scabs on my scalp. I was fed up. I had been relaxing since I was in the fifth grade, so we’re talking early 80s. That’s nearly more than 25 years of bad hair car. It was time to stop.

If you’re looking to grow your hair natural there’s a few ways you can do it. Here’s a list:

Twists: If your hair is at least two or three inches long, twisting is a great way to help your hair grow naturally.  Try a styling aid like Miss Jessie’s Buttercreme or Meringue for styling ease.

Braids: The old school favorite. Before twists became a popular natural hair style, braids were the style of choice. Cornrows, singles, braided designs are ideal for women who lead active lifestyles and don’t have a lot of time to fuss with their hair.  Braids give your scalp breathing room just be sure to avoid tight braids that will leave you looking like your hairline starts in the middle of your head. Avoid a flaky and itchy scalp with a scrub like Carita’s Revitalizing Scrub, $32 at CaritaDirect.com or a tea-tree infused treatment like Paul Mitchell’s Tea Tree Hair & Scalp Treatment, $14.50 at Amazon.com.

Curly Fros’: Highly versatile and stylish, the curly fro is my favorite. To obtain the curly for, depending on your hair’s textures, you can apply a styling cream or lotion like Carol’s Daughter Hair Milk The Original Curl Definer, $20 for 10 oz, and twist or braid your hair at night depending on your desired curl and loosen them in the morning for beautiful, silky curls.

Coils: Coils are good for hair that it extremely short. With proper maintenance and care, they can help grow quickly. They are best for hair that is already natural. Moisten them with a creamy formula like Creme of Nature Jojoba & Olive Oil Deep Conditioning Treatment, $12.95 in stores or $8.49 at Amazon.com.

Roller Sets: If you’ve just begun the growing out process, roller sets are a great way to help get your hair to that natural state. When I first started growing my hair out,  I did roller sets once a week and pinned my hair up in various styles that kept my ends protected. Be sure to moisten ends with oil, try jojoba, olive, or almond oil infused with a little lavender.

The key thing to remember about growing your hair is moisture, moisture, moisture! Black hair is strong but it can never get enough moisture. Ends are particularly critical when you are trying to retain length. Keep them oiled and tucked in whenever you can. Avoid too tight ponytails and pulling hair away from the crown, snagging, or tugging. Be gentle when you’re coming through your hair and use a wide tooth comb whenever possible. Invest in a Boar’s hair brush if you have to brush your hair and clean your hair utensils just as you would your kitchen utensils. For faster growth I recommend hair vitamins as well, Phytophanere Hair Supplement and Viviscal.

My Life sends HSN sales through the Roof.

Mary J. Blige is a beauty powerhouse. The singer debuted her new fragrance My Life on HSN (in a partnership with Carol’s Daughter) and sold $3 million dollars worth of scent according to Women’s Wear Daily.

Blige and host Cathie Northagen sat in front of cameras in a lush living room setting complete with a creme colored couch, orange blooms and mahogany wood tables. The setting was rather plush,  encompassing the image of the fragrance and Mary perfectly.

My Life went live on HSN Saturday and sold more than $72,000 units of fragrance and ancillaries within a single 24-hour period, a record high for HSN. The industry is taking note of My Life’s presence no doubt, with numbers like that they’ll have to keep the fragrance stocked like Mary’s platinum albums on a record store shelf. Congrats Mary, the scent smells great.
